Xylitol Gum

Xylitol gum is a new craze in the United States. Although it is popular in countries such as South Africa, Finland, and South Korea, xylitol gum is only recently becoming popular in the United States. This has caused me to look into why xylitol has become so popular.

The answer: Xylitol is healthy for your teeth!

Most of the chewing gums on the shelf are full of sugar that can eat away at your teeth and gums. This can cause tooth decay and forms of gingivitis. Along with the fact that a majority of Americans do not brush and floss as recommended by doctors, the sugar that is added to these chewing gums do just that - they chew your gums.

Xylitol is unlike any other sugar substitute due to the fact that it is HEALTHY. Dentists have found that chewing gum with Xylitol lowers the risk of gum diseases. According to a research developed by The Journal Of The American Geriatrics Society, participants who chewed Xylitol gum everyday lowered there risk of thrush and angular cheilitis. It is also shown to protect your teeth from cavities.
